The project “MOVESMART Renewable Mobility Services in Smart Cities” released its first electronic newsletter that provides a general overview of objectives, partners, expected results and short news about the first months of development. Under the umbrella of the University of Deusto, DeustoTech participates in MOVESMART with two teams from DeustoTech Energy (led by Konstantinos Genikomsakis) and DeustoTech Internet (led by Diego López de Ipiña).
MOVESMART is funded by the European Commission, Information and Communication Technologies, Smart Cities and Communities (FP7-SMARTCITIES-2013), under the FP7 Programme. The aim of the project is to address the problem of providing time-dependent route planning profiles in urban traffic networks by integrating the use of public transport, supporting electro-mobility and car-sharing/pooling services and using a set of crowd-sourcing tools for collecting real-time information by multimodal travellers. The core of MOVESMART is a hierarchical urban-traffic infrastructure that is hosted and maintained by a cloud architecture. MOVESMART envisions the server-based creation and maintenance of time-dependent urban-traffic metadata as well as live-traffic logging, hosted in an urban traffic knowledge base (UTKB).
